A System?
I have read articles claiming you can have a system to win playing bingo. Only
system I can think of is, buying every single card
Any bingo players here who can elaborate on this?

Well, my sister began playing bingo some years ago and became a regular at the local bingo hall. The "talk" at the tables was that by controlling the air that blows the balls up into the air, an experienced operator can pretty much dictate what balls won't get picked. So, to a small extent, it can be rigged (according to rumour). Also there are the theories that some balls are weighted heavier than others. All simply theory and stories.
What is a fact though is that luck surely has streaks. On any given night, some tables just seem to have all the luck and others, none. My sister used to choose a seat in a winning area and somehow came out on top. She paid for holiday tickets to Australia for her and the family. She also won a motor car. Not bad. She took at most the Rand equivalent of $50 for a night.
So, I think a system is either a result of corruption and collusion with the dealer or it's an orderly plan to try and share in the luck of the draw LOL

I tried playing bingo online, it's boring!! Nothing to do but lose your money...
My daughter and I use to go to a local bingo hall in my town, I never got a bingo, and we went alot for awhile. I quit going but she continued with a friend, she finally quit. Guess we didn't find the winning table... ever!!

I remember years ago when my mom was still alive - she would drag me off to the local Bingo hall with her every Tuesday night and I would sit in amazement watching her cross off all 12 of her cards , never miss a number and even point out a number I had missed on my whole 2 cards.
They used to have a jackpot of about R800.00 which you could win if you called Bingo in a certain number of calls . Lucky for me I won it one day but was too shy to shout "Bingo" because of course I was a typical teenager where the image was everything and it just wasn't cool to shout Bingo in case all the old ladies actually thought I was enjoying myself . Luckily my mom didn't have the same misgivings as me and she was quick to shout for me.
R800.00 was a lot of money in those days and I still remember the shopping spree I went on the following day with very fond memories...in fact I still wear some of the clothes I bought on that day!!!

So did you keep playing bingo, or that was the one time deal?
Nice memory to have!

Of course they don't look as good on me now as they did then - In those days the fashion was baggy - now its tight stuff - so they fit perfectly
As for still playing Bingo - Unfortunately the Bingo Halls that I used to go to , were Free Masons nights as my dad was a free mason , but unfortunately when he passed away I couldn't bring myself to continue going because it used to hurt when I saw all the free masons dressed up in their gear and my dad wasn't with them anymore.

Good memories, but hurtful ,
My Dad was a member of the Masonic Temple, many many decades ago. I don't have good memories of that, only a few bothersome ones. Those men were mean. My Mother finally told him he was out or she was leaving. He quit (allegedly), but kept paying his dues.
Maybe it all depended on the people, if good or bad things went on?

Luckily for me - The temple my dad belonged to were trully a wonderful bunch of people and they spent more time doing charity work than anything else . Of course there is a lot of controversy about free masons and their so called "secret meetings" which I was not privy to , however one thing I know for sure is that my dad was one of the most kind and generous men on this earth and spent his whole life making other people happy and he was the one that taught me to always look for the good in people.
I even recall when I lived in Zambia as a kid - I used to have a huge rabbit hutch full of rabbits and I had named each and every rabbit as kids do , but we had a dog that had a habit of getting into the hutch and killing one or 2 rabbits , so before I used to wake up , my poor dad would go off to the pet shop to try and replace the particular unfortunate rabbits in the hope that I didn't notice , because I was and always have been an absolutely crazy animal lover , so he would try and avoid my heartbreak each time I lost a rabbit !!
Anyway , enough - I don't think the idea of this forum is for me to be reminiscing about my childhood memories :-)

Strangely enough, so much of the posts here are about the way things used to be. Another common thread is about those who do good things and those who don't. If we all stop telling those feel good stories, well then we all would sink into a great state of depression. I do of course much prefer hearing about you winning money and buying clothes as opposed to hearing about bunny munching poodles.....

Here is hillbilly country.. ... the daughters of the Masons wasn't messed with, and if a hubby was caught cheating on his wife, he stopped and didn't do it again....or at least became more hidden about it....and the Eastern Stars were same but with the wives that got caught cheating.
