No, I honestly think it might be easier to learn online.

You can actually work a bit while you play once you get the hang of it.

Be sure the sound is on, so if you happen to be in another window reading or whatever, and its your turn you get a warning.

Playing online allows you to easily see what the minimum bet or call is to stay in the hand. The software will only allow a check (staying in the hand without a bet) if the check is allowed to you.

Playing in small tournaments reduces the amount you have at risk a lot too. Most rooms have a number of tournaments that allow you to play for 2 to 3 dollars, or even less.

Tournaments in most rooms mean that everyone that sits down at the table will start with the same amount in chips...(mostly $1500) giving all players the same chance of winning.

Well, if you are in the US Absolute is good, as well as Full Tilt. I occassionally play at Carbon Poker and also True Money Games.

I have never played for money at True Money Games, and came accross their poker room after joining them to play Backgammon...they have nice graphics although not a great number of players at one time but they are growing.

I don't recall what software Carbon uses, but their site says they are part of the merge network.

I miss playing at Titan but since they are a playtech US Players are no longer allowed.

Be careful what link you use to sign up as most affiliate programs do not allow play under your own affiliate id...so if you'd like a link to any room, just ask and I'll send you one.

Both Absolute and Full Tilt have a number of low priced tournaments on a regular basis as well as some free rolls. I played last night at Full Tilt in fact and ended #100 out of 630 so I held my own for a little while but I stayed in a few risky hands and was gone...LOL...but I did enjoy the game play.

Give this free software a go

http://www.lucky-horseshoe-poker-roo...Poker-Game.htm

It's my site and I do have 2 robots programmed to keep the table active. I have had 5 or 6 people live though. Seems to be OK. If you like the software (would like Universals review please) then I can put you in contact so you can get a poker table free as well. It costs something like $10 per month I think....

EEWW! No offense, but I really hate playing the bots. That's one of my biggest beefs with online poker.

I mean, how the hell can a human beat a computer?
You just can't do it.

Well then, just make the tables get busy for me and I will hit the delete buttin on the backend for the bots. THey are quite essential for a quiet little room. The only way you know they are bots is because they NEVER answer your questions! LOL You can beat them too. THey are not programmed to never lose.....

Ah, I should have looked closer. Sorry.
This isn't a real money room, strictly for fun, correct?

In that case, the bots really don't matter.

It would be a good way to learn the game, and since you can plug in the "Real" Money banners to your affiliate rooms, it could be a pretty nice marketing device.
I kind of like it!
