Obtained the permits, and finished all the requirements the city kept requesting, just waiting for the ins. and fire marshall to close their case.
Ins. paid on the house/dwelling loss, but 'depreciated' it.... said we'd get that back if needed as we build?? The mortgage company wanted paid off. The check was made out to us and mortgage company, we signed and mailed it in, still waiting to receive back what's left of it, which isn't enough to build back. Still waiting for payment on the 'content', will have to use that to help build back, WHEN we receive it!
Ins. is paying the rent on this rental house til June 02, for that, I am grateful!!
mojo, you, pdjoe, jod, greek39, mrracetrack, offyourface, theapage, pokernations, Carol (Mainstreet Affiliates), BB1, Cynthial, and casinobonusguy, have helped a lot, and I truly appreciate it!!!
PLEASE check your homeowners policy, make sure you have enough coverage for your home and content, and keep your content list updated!!

The weather here is very cold -30 Celsius but that don’t bring the city to a stall. I see city crews installing new sewage pipes, cable crews hanging off hydro poles; I guess we’re adapted to the cold. Some houses in the area are geothermo heated and cooled. The heat is transferred from the ground below the perma frost layer. Imagine no furnace or air conditioning needed geo friendly and free.
I hate the cold so much I maybe moving by summer.
Anyway Jinnia if you need anything just a shout away.

No greek, I'm not eating, so fly on down!!
All through my life, up til 2002, I played in the snow with no coat. It never bothered me ( ahhhh, the good ole days, meaning, when I was young!! ), then my pernicious anemia turned for the worse, I had weight loss, then my stroke in 2007, I'm on blood thinners, both things I just mentioned, I start shivering if temps gets below 45 degree (F).
Where would you move to for year round warm weather?? I may move there ...
Thank You Peter!!

Well I can suggest Florida....
Although we do experience a few weeks of cold in January usually, the rest of the year is usually in the 40's or above.....
It is starting to warm up a bit today and I am hoping winter is now FINALLY over.....lol

Florida????????!!!!!???!?!?!?!?
Come on Rick, it is way, way too hurricaneish (I made that word up, but it should be a word!) and the humidity is like a sauna. Now, the plants and critters are charming, specially those funny lookin' spiders and snakes.
Seriously though, I know a few people down there and they do love it!!! If I moved there, within a week a hurricane would hit, they'd probably call it Hurricane Joanne!!! You and Nick better pray I don't move there!!!

If you do move here, can you please move over near Nick?
He claims they don't get those wind storms over there, but I can tell ya stories about climbing trees in his back yard so we could hang a tarp and barbecue under it since there was no power.....
LOL

Yes palmetto bugs do get that large....but only th\e grandaddy's....the younger ones usually don';t get any bigger than softballs....
We don't usually see the gators walking in the streets, but I had to change lanes on 192 late at night one time because a 7 or 8 footer was crossing the road at about 1 am...
...but if we do happen to see them walking in the streets, or the sidewalks or the back yard even, we let them go where the f*** they want to....lol
Yep, the humidity does take a bit getting used to....and cars without air conditioning have about zero resale value....
As far as football....well....the schools such as Miami and the Gators often turn out pretty good quaterbacks...but they always play for another state....lol

I just googled palmetto bugs.
Cockroaches as big as basketballs? Softballs is enough to send me screaming for home.
reminds me of recently (last fall) a friend of my son's from NY came over and they saw a possum.
My son tells me later that he exclaimed that rat was even bigger than any he'd ever seen back home.
ouch. possums are nasty looking critters with a mouthful of very sharp, pointed teeth. However they don't reproduce at the rate that rats do.
For every possum here in KS, there must be 100,000 rats in NY. And for him to even begin to think that possum was a rat ... tells me they got some big rats in NY.
